Concepts thru Collage | "Edge"

In this exercise, we were tasked with creating three collages about our future building. Each of these collages would have a specific theme assigned to it. Images selected "should inspire, show different outlines, scales, details and materials". The three themes selected were:

"Impression" - Our general feel and impression with the site
"Edge" - Our personal image of the word "edge"
"Program" - Our eventual chosen program for the project

"Edge"

~ Webster's dictionary defines "Edge" as "the line or part where an object or area begins or ends". For me, the word edge simply means a border region, in the geographical sense, or the the extreme limit of a person, in a symbolical sense. Using these definitions, I came up with an image that for me, and hopefully for my readers, does"convey edge".
In the left side of the collage, in an ode to one of the precedents I have studied for my building analysis, I have chosen the Grand Canyon as one of my symbolisms for edge. For someone living in the East Coast of the US, on a big city no less, the Grand Canyon truly epitomizes as a place situated on the edge.
On the right hand side, I have chosen the fjord as the other epitome of the word edge. Looking from a majority European point of view, like the Grand Canyon, the fjords, which are mainly situated in Scandinavia, would also perfectly exemplify the idea of "edge".

The Grand Canyon and the fjords perfectly complement and contrast each other. As was mentioned, these fjords are mainly found in the Nordic countries; cold places where ice and water are predominant. On the other hand, the Grand Canyon, being located in the desert, is known for its hot and arid climate.
The redness and the blueness of each of these "edges" come together as a big tree; the tree of life. As was defined, edge  is an area where an object begins or ends. In this case, the tree is the beginning and the end of everything, the colors of its "branches" contrasting with the greyness of its "roots"
In the more symbolical sense, edge also represents love, and the lengths one would go thru to get the person they desire. I leave it open to interpretation, on whether it is the bird that flies freely without worries, that is on the edge, or if it is the expressionless woman, deeply rooted to ground, that is on the edge.
